Day 3 of The Golf A-Term: Golfing Against The Elements

Day 3 of our Golf A-Term consisted of a lot of golf (shocker). We started the morning off by splitting up the groups once more into Golf 1 and Golf 2. While Golf 1 spent time with Mr. Roddy presenting their findings on historical golfers and courses. Golf 1 enjoyed a quiet morning consisting of reading the course-mandated book and researching how players and coaches mentally prepare for a round of golf. After Golf 1 finished, they went outside and practiced the proper grip of a golf club and took photos to analyze and critique themselves. Meanwhile, Golf 2 went with Mr. Roddy to discuss our findings on the mental aspect of golf and how certain people control and apply certain techniques to it during play.

Once the presentations by both groups were finished, the entire class hopped in the bus and headed towards our golfing paradise at FM Law Park. Yesterday, we experienced the best sweat-inducing heat that Houston has to offer. However, today was an interesting mixture of humidity, rain, overcast, and at some point freezing wind (only in Houston, I guess). Nevertheless, this unfortunate weather stood no chance against the determined to play golfers of the Post Oak School. Upon arrival, we immediately split into our playing groups and began to approach the first tee box. The students that chose not to play today spent their time at the putting and chipping green and gradually moved to the driving range. Those that played were met once again by the treacherous 9 hole course, and the weather made it twice as treacherous as the day before. By the end of the day, all groups that went to play were able to comfortably complete the 9 holes and afterward. Some chose to join the others on the driving range. Although, there were a few students that wanted to test their luck once more with the course and headed back out to play a second round. The bus came to pick us up at around 2:30 PM and we started our return to the school. we got back to the school at 3:00 PM and had a little recap/relaxation time with Mr. Roddy and just like that our day had come to an end.
